CAD (computer aided design) and drafting is the language of today’s
engineers and designers. This course explores and prepares students to develop
ideas using mechanical instruments as well as CAD software. Students will learn
to accurately produce various styles of drawings including perspective,
oblique, isometric, and orthographic projection. Beyond this, modern CAD
software allows for truly amazing 3D digital representation of nearly any
object or device. Students will create digital models and learn to use them in
assembly files and animations which replicate the functions and movements of a
mechanical device. This course is developed for all students. It is especially
useful to students who may pursue a career in engineering, design, or
manufacturing. This course is also an excellent stepping stone to all other
technology courses, particularly Design and Engineering.
